Winners of the 16th annual Maui Matsuri Art Contest, sponsored by HouseMart Ben Franklin Crafts Maui, have been announced and their prized art pieces are on display at the Queen Kaʻahumanu Shopping Center.
Eight winners were selected in the contest from over 90 entries across four age divisions from Kindergarten to 12th grade. All artwork is on display in an exhibit across from the Ben Franklin Crafts store, with the winners receiving a cash prize and having their artwork in the window of the storefront. The artwork will remain on display until Sunday, October 3.
Acclaimed Maui County artists Kirk Kurokawa and Michael Takemoto served as judges for the contest and complimented all of the artists in this year's competition: “High quality work. It was difficult to select winners - lots of depth, technically, and very thoughtful.”
